What's an XK-E? This just looks like an E-Type. |

XK-E was the model designation used in the USA for E-Type. |

Bearing in mind that Superman Returns was filmed in Australia, we should list it as an E-Type unless it can be proved to be a US-spec model. |

My source of information (jag-lovers.org) official Jaguar brocure at UK launch 1961 Jaguar E-Type, open two seater and fixed head coupe ![]() Jaguar launch brochure in the USA 1962 Jaguar XK-E roadster and XK-E Coupe ![]() I believe the USA were trying to keep the association with the previously successful XK-120 and XK-150 models. -- Last edit: 2006-08-01 14:08:12 |

Since this is a background car, I think it's very likely to be a right hand drive E-Type made for Australia. |

I hope you don't mind me repeating this, but no-one seems to have noticed it in over a year. ![]() EDIT: Thanks. -- Last edit: 2008-03-11 17:02:36 |

The E-Type is owned by a local banker, immaculate car, he races old Jag's. The rain scene was shot with the light's off, then I got asked over the radio to run into the rain scene and turn the lights on for a second shot (I got drenched). Just for the record this car is a 1966 model FHC originally sold new in the US. I imported the car into Australia in 1996 and it was subsequently converted to right hand drive. The give-away that it is a US spec car is that I did not change the wipers - if you look at the picture you will see that they park on the left hand side of the windscreen instead of the right (as they would for a UK or Australian delivered car). |
