A Citroen DS! They must be in Europe! Also, the trash can reads: "gunoi." That's the Romanian word for "trash." They must be in Romania!

@petacchi: APS221 was being sarcastic. American TV shows often use classic cars like the DS for scenes set in Europe, because they can't get modern European cars apart from models that are sold in the US.

And how is this any different from scenes taking place in the US?? You always see characters driving 60s cars and in outdoor scenes there are always old cars in driveways or parked in the street.Europeans who haen't been to the US probably watch our movies and think we all drive around in muscle cars and Cadillacs from the 1960s. Actually, most of them here are used for collector purposes now.
I dont think the government will waive the emissions and safety restrictions for the film industry to bring in cars like Fiat Pandas and renault Twingos, that Europeans actually drive. They probably are afraid the studios, after using them for movie props, will resell them to private buyers.Cars more than 25 years old CAN be brought over at a cost because it isnt likely they will be used for anything BUT hobby purposes.Of course, very few Europeans actually drive the cars that can be legally imported so filmmakers have to sacrifice a bit of authenticity if they want to still film the scenes here.
It would be even harder to accurately try to portray a Japanese street scene of the present day here.
