1935 Dodge or Plymouth - probably Scandinavian built from the sidemounted spare. |

1936 Dodge Sedan ( D-2).It is a Scandinavian assembled 7 passenger model ona 128 inch wheelbase produced for some European markets ,very similar to the English Kew assembled 7 passenger Senior model with sidemounts .In England a sedan ( saloon) and a limousine with partition were available. The car here also has an accessory canvas opening roof. |

Touring Sedan is not a model, merely a body style. There was no 'model' for Dodge in 1936 as they only produced one variant - apart from the Plymouth-based Plodges. |

Touring Sedan also called Trunk Sedan is indeed a body style identifying the model with integrated trunk. The body style with flat back and rear mounted spare was simply called sedan and belonged to the standard line .In the US few of the 116 inches sedans were sold in the standard line ( a bit less than 6000 , most buyers prefering the built-in trunk models). The only series in 1936 was the D-2 sometimes called the \" Beauty Winner\". Production figures for the longer chassis variants quote 1942 7 seater sedans and 750 convertible sedans.Total 1936 Dodge production was 274.904 units. In Europe a small-bore export engine could also be ordered on the 116 inch chassis and was designated model D-3.In 1937 ,the smaller bore engined model became available on Plymouth\'s 112 inch wheelbase ( model D-6 or Victory) |

Hope you come back to this one pilou. A question for you - can you be certain that this is a Dodge Dodge and not a Plymouth-based model? I don't know the answer. Chrysler certainly did some strange things for export models. In NZ there was a range of Plymouths badged as Chryslers here in the 1930s. We had a mix of models sourced from both Canada and the US and much subsequent confusion over short and long block side valve sixes. |

I have not seen data or pictures pointing to a 1936 Plymouth based Dodge in Scandinavia so far. Allpar data on the swedish assembly plant quote " ... the Dodge Junior as sold by Philipson's ( Swedish assembly plant) was in fact a Swedish-assembled Plymouth at least in 1938-1939 " .So question mark remains for 1936. It is not sure if production records of the assembly of knocked down US parts in Scandinavia still exist today. Hopefully we could find some day.The complexity of Chrysler's export variants models and engines is enormous, worth of a thesis script on its own .Anyhow the movie pictures here do match the D-2 quite well. |
