Bob Dieck ◊ 2011-07-11 19:05	None of your answers. It is a Toyota Bandeirante, a brazilian version of Toyota Land Cruiser of the late fifties. Toyota Bandeirante started production with its japanese gasoline engine, but forced by nationalism laws, Toyota changed to Mercedes-Benz diesel engines in the sixties. The last brazilian Toyota jeeps have Mercedes-Benz 608 4 cylinder engines. This jeep has enlarged wheelbase to accomodate more people in these urban safaris. It was said that the organizers paid some money to fake urban battles when the tourists were being driven through the Rio de Janeiro hills, but nowadays those violent days are gone and this kind of adventure has been cancelled. But there are lot of jeeps cruising Rio de Janeiro hills and favelas in the weekends, although 4 x 4 in never needed. -- Last edit: 2011-07-11 19:07:49
