I like that type of leather treatment, but agree that it’s too dark. I prefer the lighter hue of that kind of leather. The XC90 looks sharp in black with those style alloy wheels.

XC90 is available with the Haldex all-wheel drive system, virtually the same system as the one used in the Land-Rover Freelander 2/LR2.

The XC90’s engine and transmission are transversely mounted, with a single longitudinal prop shaft emerging from the front transaxle assembly. The prop shaft runs the length between the front and rear wheels, connecting to the single-speed singe range Haldex transfer unit with electronic center coupling. As typical with this setup, the transfer unit set fore of, and connects to, the rear differential.

It is similar to SAAB’s XWD all-wheel drive (which is also supplied by Haldex) but doesn’t not have the improved electronic center coupling, nor does it have a rear electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD).

To transfer torque from side-to-side, the XC90 relies on 4-wheel electronic traction control to force it’s conventional differentials to behave like limited-slip units. The same applies to the Land-Rover, and other vehicles that use the Haldex 3.0 system.

A lot of vehicles use the Haldex all-wheel drive system, as its flexible, modular, and programmable, allowing the system to be easily adapted to almost any type of vehicle application.
