sixcyl ◊ 2011-05-24 18:32	Around 1962... my father's ID19 bought new in 1962 had already these reflective plates (Yellow/White).... it was xxxx AY 33 (Gironde) as we lived in Bordeaux at this time.

ingo ◊ 2011-05-24 21:56	In West Germany reflective plates were offered since around 1970 - but had been illegal. You got a fine, if the cops have catched you with them. From 1972 onwards it was allowed and an optional extra (for extra costs), in 1989 it became mandatory.
sixcyl ◊ 2011-05-24 23:21	I must apologize dsl, these reflective plate was introduced in France since Nov.1963. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaque_d'immatriculation_fran%C3%A7aise So my father's ID19 must have had formerly black/silver plates on his car , but I don't remember it...(I was only 6 years old in nov 63), and had change for reflective yellow/white in 1964 or 65 (I didn' even remember why, but it was...)
