I caught that scene, and wondered if to the right of the Chrysler wagon is a 1963 or 1964 Mercury with the reverse-canted rear window? It would be an anachronism, but it looks like it just the same. Has the look of a Ford product, even if I'm wrong. I've just seen part of the first episode, so I don't know if this car appears again later. |

I think that's more likely a '58 to '60 Continental which also had such a window design. From the taillamps visible, we should be able to get an exact year but I don't have my sources. |

Thank you, Commander, I believe you've got it. I tried to find pictures of that range of Continental, and though they all have similarities, I'll make a guess that it's a '58. The '59 taillamp section has a more oval look, and the '60 has larger fins and is slightly more exaggerated. I think this example looks similar to the car: Link to "www.kingoftheroad.net" |

The "oval" design you mention was used on the regular Lincoln line, not the Continental. The '59 Continental had a triple taillamp design like the '58, except the lamps were square. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/5083229085_279d9e2a44.jpg The car in the photo is too far away to tell. Agree it's not a '60 which had tailfins that cut down into the rear panel. -- Last edit: 2011-11-09 01:39:38 |
