"Bovril makes the weary cheery" - excellent. GN xxxx series issued London, starting 1931, but I have no end date nor info on how quickly the series was used.

Regent, originally supplied with Dodson body with open rear entrance, re-bodied 1n 1943/44 by Eastern Coachworks.

Registration (and therefore chassis) is much older than the body. Looks like a former London bus, perhaps a Regent I STL?

Thomas Tilling owned the Brighton, Hove and District Omnibus Company Ltd, as part of its expansion resulting from its being restricted to only 150 buses in the capital. It is therefore possible that the early Regent 1s with London registrations were previously operated in London, but won't have been STLs as none of these was built with an open rear staircase. ST is possible, however.
