dsl ◊ 2011-03-23 22:30	DVLA info is odd for 1974 date - XDF xxx series was issued June-July 59. I guess this is Bedford D-type - introduced about 1957; if not D-type, things like small doors and split windscreen suggest same sort of late 50s date. 1974 design would be much more modern.
nzcarnerd ◊ 2011-03-24 09:47	I would have thought the date was more like late 1950s. I think that the J type was in production by 1959, going by the pictures I have found. I would say that 1959 would be the very last of these D types. By 1974 they were near to the end of the J models - or maybe they had finished? Even the engine size given is odd. Sunbar ◊ 2011-08-05 15:19	Its an ambulance body on a Bedford A (1 or 1.5 ton) probably a Lomas body. XDF 642 was a 1960s Bedford A-type ambulance used by the Military so originally had a military registration.
