Does anyone else think think this looks like a model from the 1960's and 1970's? |

early 60\'s even maybe late 50\'s and I believe it\'s even an A64B here\'s a photo of a 1966 Autocar A64B /vehicle_11446-Autocar-A64-B-1966.html notice the bumper, grill, hood and fenders are different and this is a \'66 style here\'s a photo of a 1965 Autocar A64B /vehicle_322374-Autocar-A64-B-1965.html notice, the bumper is dufferent and this is a \'65 style /vehicle_267227-Autocar-A64-B.html this is a 1958-1961 style and it looks alot like this I bet that this truck is a 1960 Autocar A64B, I know it was an A64B atleast cause I can see \"Autocar Diesel\" signs on the side of the hood if it were an A64 it would be a gas job |

Autocar A10242 ("A"- lightweight component highway model, "102"- BBC, "42"- 4 wheel/ 2 driven) There would be no "B" suffix as suggested above because that designated the set back front axle. |

Ok- it’s an Autocar. What’s really wrong is the “Vortox” brand air cleaner on the side of the truck. Vortox’s didn’t show up on trucks until the mid 1970’s— the first that I know of was 1978, on Peterbilt 359’s a a few rare Kenworth W900. The originals were chrome plated steel, the chrome wasn’t that good, and they were prone to rusting. Later in the early 80’s, Vortox switched to stainless steel stampings. They sold a bunch of them, until Donaldson came out with a much less expensive competitor. Another issue I have with the truck, are the disc style (Budd) wheels). These too, did not show up until the mid 60’s. This truck should have had 5 bolt Webb/Dayton spoke hub wheel sets. Clearly, this Autocar is NOT of late 40’s vintage, and the air cleaner (stainless steel stamping) may be an eighties model. The movie was said to be set in 1948. |
