Well it's a 5000 aka C2, but are you sure "1983" is right? In 1983, the successor aka C3 was already available AFAIK.

Yes, a 5000 C2. 1982 would be the correct year I think

This was a Spring 1983 episode and it was supposed to be a new car in a showroom, that's why I put 1983.

So it could be a very late model...

Double checked and the airdate was July 13, 1983.

They might have just used a car that was a couple of years old... Depends on whether it was a real dealer or some cars put on a stage.

I'm sure this was just a studio set and not a real showroom.

I think so, too. Furniture and wall-decoration is not in the brand-style.

As the VW/Audi-dealer nearby my parent's first home did: the 1975 Audi 100 Coupé S, he stored in the showroom as a brand new car, was never for sale, even not as a new car. As I've heard, it's still standing there (but they took care of it during the years).

Ingo, my local VW dealer stores a '59 Beetle sunroof in his showroom just to be seen. Never to be sold.

In the thumbnail for the 911 page you can see that it's a set by the brown wall not connecting to a ceiling. Just blackness. :o

I had a 1980 5000 that looked like this model. I'm not seeing anything that makes this a 1983-specific model...unless it's the body color.

This *was* supposed to be a new car, though, it's described by the salesman (Bill) as one, though not necessarily a 1982 or '83 model.

In the US the C2 was released in mid 1982 as a 1983 model, the c3 was released in late1983 as a 1984 model. The c2 was indistinguishable by years 1980-1983, except for certain models. The "Diesel" 1980-1982, "Turbo Diesel" 1983 only, and the "houndstooth" velour was the same 1980-81 and changed for 1982-83 ( more dense weave and not as "velvety" along with the front speaker grills were plastic 82-83, and metal 80-81. There were a couple of color variations which I am not certain of. The answer to the above car would be a 1983 is very possible, love and own the movie btw.
