Land Rover Ninety or Defender 90, with armour added for the movie. |

I would say it is the same vehicle as this one: /vehicle_38382-Land-Rover-Defender-90.html The armour might be a real anti riot protection. |

I'm inclined to think that the armour was made for the film, because the sloping window line on the door is very similar to that on a real Israeli armoured jeep: http://www.ail.co.il/storm_v.htm#armored |

Actually the link you send convinces me that the armour is real and not movie prop. As you said the shape of the windows as well as the roof look quite similar on the AIL Storm. Reading between the lines of the AIL page I venture the guess that the armour was made by a third party. Therefore it is very likely that such upgrades were available for other vehicles, too. The pictures look as if they were taken in Israel or Palestine. |

I've read that the Jerusalem scenes in The Omen were filmed in Matera in Italy, which was also used for The Passion of the Christ. Just to clarify: although I haven't seen the film, I read a user comment on the IMDB saying "too bad the Israeli army doesn't use Land Rovers" or words to that effect, making it clear that the Land Rovers in the film are playing the part of Israeli army jeeps. (He also noted that the Israeli soldiers are wearing the wrong type of helmet.) And in the other capture we see men in Hassidic dress and a sign written in Hebrew. -- Last edit: 2006-06-18 20:18:14 |

It is maybe not a good idea to discuss on this page if it is going to be merged with the other Land-Rover (or we could move the other one to here to not lose the comments made here?) |

Armor is real, but does not belong to any Israeli LR Defender. A carabinieri, perhaps? |
