If really a Porsche, a 356. But somehow I'm not really convinced, that it is one.

Not a Porsche... This looks a bit like a French Ford Comète, but I'm not 100% sure...

What about Bristol 404? Everything fits.

Bristol 401 had a split windscreen, and both 401 and 404 had a one-piece rear window. I think the only Bristol with a one-piece windscreen and a three-peices rear window was the 405 saloon. And that does seem to fit indeed :)

1955 Bristol 405. Plate is on check sites but only shows on DVLA as Bristol (BLMC) which makes no sense to me. DVLA info for WDF 964:
Date of Liability 01 10 2009
Date of First Registration 09 03 1955
Year of Manufacture 1955
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1971CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour RED

So off the road and changed colour. 404 and 405 both available in 1955, but 404 seems the 2 door coupe from wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_404_and_405 .

I can confirm this car is a 1955 Bristol 405 - it belonged to my dad from sometime in the early 70's until the early 90's and we used it as our main family car until the mid '80's when he laid it up with the intention of restoring it. Unfortunately his advancing years got the better of him and he eventually sold it. My dad bought it from the widow of a friend of his who I think had had it from new. When we had it it was a rather unprepossessing grey, but we always suspected that this might have not have been the original colour. Great to see that it's still going strong after all these years!
