l'incontournable Kubelwagen dans un film du genre, comme la jeep, le gmc et les halftrack |

listing this under a class of suv 4x4 is wrong as the vehicle is only 2 wheel drive. |

"convertible" then? It is like for VW 1881, Citroën Méhari and few others... |

I would say SUV is quite okay, even though this is a modern name for an old class. Quite a few US SUVs are 4x2. The suspension, the axle articulation, the ground clearance, etc. are the important bits on such vehicles that differentiates them from road cars. We could call the class 'off-road' ... but this might exclude some of the modern US SUVs ... |

I could rename that category to "SUV / Off-road" then, as "4x4" is not really a good name (most Subaru are 4x4 for example, though they can be sedan or compact hatchback...) -- Last edit: 2006-07-04 10:33:49 |

good point even better will be Off-road / SUV I think because not all Offroads are SUVs, but all SUVs are Offroads (ok, please do not start with ML, X5 etc ) |

I changed the category name. In German, is "Geländewagen" still OK as translation of "Off-road / SUV"? |

yes it is |

Do I put also the Typ 181 in that category, or was it really not off-road at all? |

La Kübelwagen était censée être la version Tout-Terrain de la Volkswagen. Et la 181 (Thing) la version snob et Saint-Trop' de la Cox... La première à classer en TT (Geländewagen, donc!), et la deuxième en SUV! |

2 star, driven along, then shot to bits and explodes! |

Actually it just turns on its side and catches on fire, and the driver gets out safely. It's a truck nearby that blows up. |
