On the right the train bridge which was built in 1872 (then the longest bridge in Europe), destroyed by the Germans in 1944, rebuilt in 1946 and made wider (two tracks in stead of one) in teh early 50s. On teh left the road bridge from 1936, also destroyed in 1944 and rebilt soon afterwards. Indeed in 1978 this bridge was made much wider.
