The 250 ccm-version was made for the holders of the German pre-1950 "Klasse IV"-motor-bike-driving license. With that you were allowed to drive any vehicled up to 250 ccm - the law was cancelled just two years ago. Since that, you don't need to make an extra driving-test for the "real" driving license. Maybe it's possible to find out, how many only-Klasse IV-holders were still alive. For this clientele a few old mechanics have produced the 250ccm Goggo-engine up to the early 80ies, in an edge of the former Borgward-factory. This manufacturing was stopped, when Mercedes Benz needed the space for the W201-production. These Goggo-engines were transplantated in other car for "downsizing". Mainly NSU Prinz 4, also Fiat 500 and Fiat 126. |
