fck ◊ 2011-02-04 17:05	In 1958 engineer, glider constructor Bogumił Szuba bought '41 Volkswagen Kubelwagen and used it as a base for his brand new car. He tooked an engine, chassis, front and tail suspension, steering and brake systems. Other parts are from many other cars: Wartburg, Żuk, Warszawa, VW Typ1. Off course except the body which he built from polyurethane using a glider body building technology. Eng. Szuba often corresponded with VW during his work, someday he asked is he can name this car "Feniks (Phoenix)" - VW replied that yes, he can, but this car have a engine and chassis from VW so they want to mount VW signs on it and they send it to mr. Normally they were very strict with that -especially in the Heinrich Nordhoff-times- and had forbidden it. They even had refused to sell just chassis's and platforms to coachbuildung-manufacturers. Szuba willingly shows his pioneering solutions and he was in solid contact with Wolfsburg from the beggining. Unfortunately I can't find any extensive info in english about it.
