Is this one 'built in' Sth Africa? Is Hardbody the local model name? Year? In NZ it is a Navara. |

It would be great, if there would be a chance, if I could get an answer of the three already, but without success, asked questions .gif ":)") a) are these Pick Ups locally built or imported from Japan? Our one was rented here: http://www.ascocarhire.com/homepage_E.htm b) in which countries the D21-Pick Up is named "Hardbody"? c) is it a special South African version, the "Single Cab" without the little side window? The European version always has this window: /vehicle_136018-Nissan-Navara-D22.html I've never seen one without it here.  More and more questions are coming up... So what's specific about these only two [820]-models: /vehicles_make-Nissan_model-820.html , compared with the few "Hardbody" (two of them are [D22]) /vehicles_make-Nissan_model-Hardbody.htmland all the many other [D22] /vehicles_make-Nissan_model-D22.html ?? @ingo Sorry, haven't been on here for a while now. Your questions: A. Locally assembled in the Nissan South Afric plant in Rosslyn near Pretoria, and exported to African countries furhter north. The Namibian and ZA markets are one for all practical purposes. B. The ZA built ones were called Hardbody since the 820 was launched (partly to dispel the notion that the bodies were not durable, mostly because of dodgy build quality of early 720s), and disappear in IIRC 2008, since when it is simply called the NP300. I am not sure in which other countries the nomenclature was used. C. This is the standard ZA single cab, and the extended cab became only available here very recently, although the 720 series had a "King Cab" version, which was the only pickup with this configuration in Za at the time. These Nissan are known and bought as uncompromising workhorses here, and luxuries such as extended cabs unnecessarily takes away loading space. If you want more space, buy the double cab... Most of those listed here, under D22, are indeed the later version which is still being built in ZA and elsewhere, while the two 820s listed are D21s. Essentially these two pickups ("bakkies" in ZA) are very much the same (evolutionary) and yes, the later D22s being built here are much more similar to those in other markets, although many changes are made to the suspension, trim, materials etc. to suit our (harsh) environment and roads.
