It's a Dakota, and the earliest I can find that font being used was '94. |

Since tailgates on pickups can be removed, why did regulators allow the CHMSL to be mounted on the tailgate? It should be on the roof like every other pickup. |

^ Same way they got away with it on the 1994-1996 Broncos, they put a note in the owners manuals of 1994-1996 Dakotas saying the tailgate was not removable (Likewise in 1994 the hardtop on the Bronco was deemed non-removable) |

But couldn't someone remove the tailgate. It's relatively simple. Removing the hardtop on the Bronco is complicated, but it can be done. |
