Yes, usually they were tolerated if they were "used" and if they were realistic enough (in a way, it is better to have this than a cartoon vehicle...)

cartoons are other concept - as those are "used" in the movie/series - I would agree on keeping this as a vehicle in case the characters were puppets and they were driving model cars ;)
