how do we jnow it is a 760 and not a 740? for me, it is more logical, that they used the cheaper car (740) for the conversion. |

I'm pretty sure that there wasn't any 740 ambulances, at least not in Sweden. The 700-series ambulances always had the infamous PRV-6 (perhaps some had the inline 4 cylinder turbo engine?) My granddad told me yesterday that they had some trouble with the PRV-6 ambulances when he worked at the Volvo shop. At a warm summer they started to boil on longer runs and all ambulances were called in to have a number of modifications. When they were finnished Volvo commisioned a 100 km test drive for each vehicle as Volvos name was at stake and they didn't want to take any chances. |

Yes it was, and it was made by Renault, and used in Renaults, Peugeots and Volvos. |

It powered also the DeLorean DMC-12 and some Venturi models. Lancia used it on the less diffused Thema 6V in the first production years. |
