Presumably 1971 as a new car in the showroom? Interesting joint franchise - was this a local or national combination? -- Last edit: 2010-10-16 05:14:26 |

@DAF555: the neon sign would be nice to have, eeh? @dsl: these joint franchise aren't too uncommon in many countries. Probably especially there, where the marekt or the market-position of the brand was not big enough to stand alone. In Denmark I've seen several times the combination of Mercedes Benz and Mitsubishi. And in Sweden (also years ago, before the whole merging) Volkswagen and Scania. In Germany it's coming up more in the last years, too, since the big brands have thrown out many smaller, independent dealers (Volkswagen, Opel and Mercedes Benz are very hard to them). But this mixture is indeed not too common here: http://www.opel-borgmann.de/ (the street down a few hundre4d meters you'll find http://www.brabus.com/raster.php?page=12 ) |

Very unusual in UK since the 1960s (though can exist for one group with joint brands - eg BMW+MINI) as makers enforce on undiluted relationships. Big dealer chains sometimes reverse the power structure by establishing their own trading estates with one plot ringfenced for each of their brands. |
