Presumably not made for Sweden, since this is in Norway... But the headlights are on. That's a Swedish thing. -- Last edit: 2010-09-07 20:24:03 |

Not just Swedish All cars in Norway have the headlights on when the engine's on, 24-7. |

Now it is legislation for all new cars in the EU to have daytime running lights I believe? Time was when you could see a Volvo or SAAB coming a mile off as they had lights on permanently. |

Not only these two countries: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tagfahrlicht Sorry, rljuna2, the English version is much shorter ![]() And the map Link to "de.wikipedia.org" They forgot the Faroe Islands, there permanent light is mandatory, too. P.S. There are (at least in the past) differences between the Norwegian and the Swedish laws. So in Norway the side-indicators were mandatory (in Denmark, too), but not in Sweden. In Sweden there mere many safety-features mandatory, which in other countries were only optional extras (laminated frontscreen, right mirror, headrests, automatic seatbelts, automatic seatbelts for the back seats, mudflaps, lampwasher-system, charcoal-filter for the fuel-intake) |

No, it's in the discussion, but not a rule. See the wikipedia-informations. The wiring for permanent daylight is a special feature for all cars for these markets (since the late 80ies, if I remember correctly, what my Swedish friend has said), so also import-cars have to have this wiring. So my Swedish friends have to remember to switch the lights on by hand, at the cars, they have bought in Germany over the years (1 BMW 524 tds, 2x VW Vento, 1 Golf III Cabriolet, 1 VW Golf I GTI, 1 Escort Cabriolet). This is not neccessary at their cars, they have bought in Sweden. There the lamps going on by turning the ignition-key. -- Last edit: 2010-09-07 20:50:27 |

Eeeh, to avoid misunderstandings, not all with colours marked contries are requiring daily headlights! They have marked the countries, which have specific laws about the lights - so there are some, where day-headlight is forbidden! |

I did look at the picture page via Google Translate page and yes, I do understand the lighting requirement based on color chart. At least I can track which one uses DRL and whatnot. |
