Not a circa 1956 Studebaker? |

Possibly a 1957 Packard? |

Looks like one from here, Cougar. (Sad to see it in such a lowly state!) Wow! Three '57 Clippers added so close together. -- Last edit: 2010-08-29 21:59:44 |

I was hoping that it's a big Simca but nevertheless interesting find. |

I am not sure it is a Packard... |

I'm not TOTALLY certain either but visually, it comes closer than any other car I can think of. Note particularly the sail panel/rear window design and what appears to be rear door vent panes. And that wide moulding on the side at headlamp level certainly speaks '57 Clipper. Comments? -- Last edit: 2010-08-24 23:41:01 |

While doing my review of the post-war Packard section, it finally dawned on me what this is! The rear bumper/guards bothered me as they did not match a '57 Clipper's. The side trim seemed wrong for a '56 Clipper (doesn't widen toward the rear) or Patrician (it is mounted too high). This is actually a 1956 Packard Executive, a one-year-only cross between a Clipper and a senior Packard. Note how the side trim is higher than a '56 Patrician's but the rear bumper is clearly not '57 per the 2 vertical guards on top (which matches '56 Executive photos). The car is missing its rear wheel skirt. Changing accordingly. Incidentally, this is quite a rare car. Only 1,784 Executive 4-door sedans were built for 1956 compared to 3,940 1957 Clipper Town Sedans. It is currently the only Executive on the site. (Just wish the photo was better!) -- Last edit: 2013-04-16 15:39:21 |

One thing's for certain: this car is definitely not a Packard. I believe what we're actually looking at is a far more unusual Prince Skyline. |

after comparing both i'd be in favor of the Prince all red tail lights ( without reverse lights ) , exhaust outlets right under them are what makes me vote for the Skyline -- Last edit: 2023-02-24 19:09:48 |

More importantly, the car is too small and upright compared to the '59 Ford underneath it, the A-pillar is angled and doesn't have the panoramic windshield of the Packard, the side trim is narrower towards the front and has a distinctive notch in it, and it lacks the distinctly bulgy rear fender that extends into the rear door. According to a comment posted in this article, 600 such Princes made it to the States in 1960. |
