Retread ◊ 2019-06-13 17:40	It's actually a post war Morris commercial with the radiator cowl missing and a large plywood star on the front to make it look German. It was supplied as a static prop but was later got running, after this scene was filmed. It had a brake failure and ran into another vehicle on location and was wrecked. It was used as a background wreck in some footage that didn't make it into the film where the patrol get held up by a traffic jam. If you look carefully you can see that it has a split windscreen unlike the Mercedes model. The side profile also shows off the mudguard shape.

Sunbar ◊ 2019-06-13 20:28	It should be a Morris-Commercial 1954 LC5 (or the visibly identical, earlier 1952-3 LC4) by the front wing bulge at the front following from Retread's comments. The headlamps would also have been separately mounted higher.
