Is there some info about the existence of this 'Chevrolet 157' which the Kubuś was based on?

If I'm not mistaken, there was no such thing as a "Chevrolet 157" in Chevrolet's truck lines, but it certainly refers to the 1½-ton truck with a 157"/ 3.99 m wheelbase available from 1931 to 1938.
The accurate truck name depends on the model year, so M-Series to S-Series is possible.

@elmer
Polish made (by LRiL works) Chevrolet trucks and buses, in period adverts and documents, were mostly named with the numbers taken from their wheelbase lenghts given in inches - so for example "Chevrolet 157 D", "157 HD" or in form "Chevrolet typ 117 FHD" (other model), "typ 157" etc. These names are also used in historic books, including the 1980s one written by A. Rummel, who worked in 1930s in Warsaw LRiL plant on polonization of 157's production.
