Frankly - rather for change: "In 1967, in parallel with the deployment of issue M-412 in Moscow, began to produce similar vehicles instead of the M-408 on the industrial base built on a defense plant Izhevsk car factory, supervised by the Ministry of Defence and Minister of Defense Ustinov personally. "Moskvitch" in model designations in this case was retained - and all the cars Izhevsk production is designated as the "Moskvich-412" (later, after the updated bodywork - Moskvich 412IE "), although it bore the sign of the Izhevsk factory plant on the grid radiator. The first model, released under the independent label "Iz" was IZH-2125 "estate". Thus, valid names are "Iz-Moskvich-412" or "Izhevsk" Moskvich-412 "but not" Iz-412. " (source (after translation): Link to "ru.wikipedia.org" ) Only Izhes - hatchback 2125 ( http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%98%D0%96-2125) and van 2715 ( http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%98%D0%96-2715 ) |

IMHO worth to mention is the Ford Taunus [TC2] behind it - not very common in the Soviet times, I would say. The second car left behind it, is it a Ford Scorpio? |

It is last days of soviet times and it is second city so its not realy rare. Second left behind? The red one? Its a Moskvitch 2141. |

Maybe they were cars, brought back by the officers of the Red Army, which have left the DDR, Hungaria etc. No, I mean the black car behind the red Moskvitch. |

There was a many ways to get "foreign mark". Including thats one. But also sailors from cargo ships could get them, that could be ex-ambassy cars. Peterburg is close to Finland so they (cars) can be buy'd there. Since 1986 bussines and criminal activity started to grow fast. They was needed some special cars, like no "simple man" can get. The black one? Thats just couple pixels for me %) I think you right. -- Last edit: 2010-06-20 21:01:25 |

The import of Western cars by sailors of Soviet cargo ships seems to be possible years before, too. You see the white wreck, lying on the roof? http://www.k70-club.de/galerie.html It was bought in 1975 by a Soviet Captain in Kiel/Germany as a private import and was driven in the Estonian SSR until the 90ies. Later on it was picked up and wrecked by my Estonian K 70-friend. |

Well, so far, so good, in the 80's opportunities did grow, and not only captains could buy the car. -- Last edit: 2010-06-21 04:07:41 |
