The orange one could be another Hillman Avenger. |

Close. Those taillights make this the Chrysler version. |

Or Dodge, or Volkswagen ... I think this is S. America. |

Its a Plymouth Cricket - the version of the Avenger sold in USA |

The Latin American locations in this episode were filmed in Cuba (see my comment on the series page). Could the Cricket be imported from Canada, since it obviously couldn't come directly from the USA. -- Last edit: 2010-05-31 12:14:42 |

It certainly is not a Cricket, the Avenger version of which was only sold briefly in the USA (1971-3) and which always had the hockey-stick taillights. It is an Argentinian Dodge or Volkswagen 1500. |

Didn't realise the Avenger carried on as a VW in Argentina. As a Dodge it could be either Argentinian or Brazilian |

The Brazilian Dodge 1800/Polara was only produced in 2-door form. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillman_Avenger has a fairly full account of the Avenger's history. |

I agree that it is the Argentinian Dodge 1500. I think the later VW 1500 had fancier trim and larger taillights and more integrated looking bumpers. Plus, it is parked next to an Argentinian Falcon! Best Regards Matt Cotton Lake Parsippany, NJ |

According to http://www.testdelayer.com.ar/cuba.htm Dodge 1500s were imported by Cuba after 1974 for use as urban taxis. |

Not only taxis... Some Citroëns and Fiats are for the Goverment and particular cars. The Fiat VI (now Iveco) exports some trucks to the island. And the most recent Sprinters for ambulances. |
