There's never been a two-door Expedition. It's an Explorer Sport.

There was no plain "Sport" for the Explorer either, it was either XLS Sport or XLT Sport, I think this was a XLT Sport.

Weren't the earlier Explorer 2 doors (1991-1994)not always called "Sport"? I think that it was just a regular trim level along with XLT and XL. Any thoughts?

The word "Sport" should follow directly after the word "Explorer" in the naming of this vehicle, since it is an Explorer Sport. If the trim level is really necessary to list, it should be at the end.

Full model is "Explorer Sport" then I guess? (like for the "Explorer Sport Trac")
If yes I'll rename the other ones which have it as extra info like if it was a trim level.
Or was it just a name added to the model name as cieraguy suggested?

Yes, the full model is "Explorer Sport" (like for the "Explorer Sport Trac"), but it does not seem to be quite that simple.

From Wikipedia: The Ford Explorer Sport was a 2-door version.... The Sport began as a trim level of the Ford Explorer, but ....in 2001 it became its own model...

I only just recently learned this because I was confused as to why this one was labeled as a 2001, and yet appeared to have the more angular/less rounded appearance that did not appear on regular Explorers until the 2002 redesign.

So it seems the only ones on which the model name should be renamed are:
/vehicle_63695-Ford-Explorer-2001.html
/vehicle_90581-Ford-Explorer-2001.html
/vehicle_115079-Ford-Explorer-2001.html
/vehicle_115596-Ford-Explorer-2001.html
/vehicle_125777-Ford-Explorer-2001.html

Do not change the model name of any examples prior to 2001, as then it was a trim level as cieraguy suggested.

Leave it to Ford to bring confusion to their own vehicle naming system!

In fact, with the 2001-2003 Explorer Sport, there was NO "XLT" or "XLS", as explorer4x4 says.

So this should be corrected to read "2001 Ford Explorer Sport" (WITHOUT the "XLT" part).

The previous generation DID have "XLT" or "XLS", but not 2001-2003.
