In the US, these were called Diamante. |

Was this used in any experiments? The first generation Diamante sedan was sold from 1992-1996. It was made in Japan. The first gen. wagon was sold from 1993-1995, they were made in Australia. Second gen. was sold from 1997-2004, and were imported from Australia. This is the first generation model. |

1992-1996 They cut it apart and then put it back together using only duct tape. -- Last edit: 2010-05-16 22:20:48 |

Yes and then drove it to try and break it again but it did not...until the engine died. Somehow they killed a 6G72 engine before they broke duct tape. |

Considering it was just a Mitsubishi sedan that's not an Evo, not much of a loss. |

That would be true if this were a common Lancer. I don't know how it was in America, but I found these quite unique and uncommon. Not really worth crying about though. |

Here in the US, Diamantes were pretty common. There was even an estate version that I remember seeing every now and then, but less often than the sedan. Today you don't see nearly as many of them as you do Camrys or Accords from the same vintage however. -- Last edit: 2024-11-02 18:00:10 |
