Filming of the script began on November 1st 1966 in California, but the racing scenes were stock footage from 1962-1966 or filmed earlier by the B unit. Fabian's character is seen "driving" the #12 Jon Thorne owned Charger, (which this is a pic of), a car that competed at Darlington in 1966, (both races), but not in 1967. In fact, in the 66 Southern 500, driver LeeRoy Yarbrough started on the pole in it, finishing 8th. So, it's a 1966 Charger since under NASCAR rules at the time, a 67 couldn't be raced until the start of the 67 season. LeeRoy left the team part way through the 67 season before either Darlington race, having only raced the Dodge, & Donnie Allison took over for the World 600 in Charlotte that year, which took place after the Rebel 400 at Darlington, & the 600 was his only race in the Dodge. The team switched to Fords for the remainder of the season, including the 67 Southern 500, Thorne's last season as a car owner in NASCAR. -- Last edit: 2019-09-06 18:20:08

Yeah. it's a 1966-67. They barely show any exterior shots of the car, so I couldn't get a better one then this.
