I can't be absolutely sure, but this might be a very rare Mk.I 1600 De Luxe, fitted with the centre-lock wheels of the Twin Cam. Comments? |

Why do you choose so rare car? (18 pcs only) Twin-Cam is much more probable even. -- Last edit: 2010-04-24 20:32:45 |

Check out the taillights ![]() From Wikipedia: 'In May 1959 the standard cars also received an updated engine, now at 1588 cc producing 78 bhp (58 kW; 79 PS) . Front discs were fitted, but drums remained in the rear. 31,501 were produced in less than three years[2]. Externally the car is very similar to the 1500 with differences including: Amber or white (depending on market) front turn indicators shared with white parking lamps, separate stop/tail and turn lamps in the rear, and 1600 badging on the boot and the cowl. A number of 1600 De Luxe versions were produced with leftover special wheels and four wheel disc brakes of the departed Twin-Cam, or using complete modified Twincam chassis left redundant by the discontinuance of that model. Seventy roadsters and 12 coupés were built.' |

Well, maybe not. She doesn't look bad. Only "parked in wall", a lot of smoke, bricks on front but I can't see damages. |

Bardzo dziękuję ... I'd like to think the owner fixed the rust by the wheel arch when the film was finished ... |

Can this vehicle type be changed to an MGA Twin Cam please. It's either a Twin Cam or Deluxe but clearly not just a 1600 MKi pushrod. |

@58TwinCam - is Deluxe still a possibility as previous ID from Chris40?? Am happy to change to Twin Cam if you can over-rule his comments. |

Deluxe is possible, It's impossible to tell unless you can see the badges or lift the bonnet between a twin cam and a deluxe 1600. 1600 MKii body type with the mini van rear tail lights is different though, as this would not be a twin cam and only a deluxe MKii. http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/buying/buy100.htm As you don't have a category for the Deluxe and as this one has 1600 Mki rear lights, I'd go for twin cam. Private message me if you like DSL. |

OK - switching to Twin Cam as safest. I'm not an MGA expert, just the bloke-who-does-most-of-the-MGAs-when-they-pop-up-on-imcdb, so better knowledge always welcomed, so feel free to scour our other examples for errors. But this exchange leaves the impression with me that if we ever have a genuine Deluxe pop up, we'd never be able to visually distinguish it from a Twin Cam - true?? Which would be a pity, because we're all suckers here for the elusive/obscure/rare/unrecognised variations of stuff. |

If an MGA has MKii (Mini van type) tail lights AND Dunlop knock on type wheels, it's likely to be a MKii Deluxe but you would have to see the car from the rear only, so yes quite difficult. DSL.. post your email address, then delete the message and we can have a private chat. |
