This is the prototype that was drafted by Albrecht Graf von Goertz (German designer of the BMW 507) when the concept of the 240z was first discussed. OFFICIALLY ....his design was rejected in favor of an "in house project Z design" shown in the other two 240z prototype designs listed on this site, but the popular concensus is that many of his design elements made it into the "in house" prototypes, and into the final production model of the 240Z. |

I think that we should leave it as Nissan 200OGT prototype, type A550X. To say it is the prototype of the 240Z is controversial. Toyota fan says it involved Goertz and Yamaha, so it's a prototype of the Toyota 2000GT. Datsun fan say it is a prototype of the 240Z... |

as a fan of both... i completely agree. even Nissan/Datsun states that while they corporately had a hand in research and funding this particular prototype, they rejected/released the prototype, in favor of designing the (obviously quite similar) Z car themselves. |
