These cars are so rare that this spring someone sent a picture to HEMMINGS SPORTS & EXOTIC CAR asking to identify it, and none the staff knew what it was. The picture of the Morgan SLR was posted as a "mystery car" in the May 2011 issue, and promptly identified by Morgan fanatics. The staff decided the story of the SLR was so interesting that it will be featured in a future issue of the magazine.
macmog ◊ 2011-12-02 03:54	A total of three Morgan SLR racers were built, all in 1964. The legendary Chris Lawrence had been hugely successful racing the Morgan Plus 4 Supersport, but the aerodynamics of Morgan's 1930s styling was hurting his top speed. His company commissioned these handsome aerodynamic bodies and mounted them on Plus 4 chassis for sale. The SLR venture came to a sudden halt when Lawrence was severely injured by a truck which struck him while he was stopped at a traffic light.
