Well the whole standard of animation got better as the series went on (they also changed animation studios at some point, which led to a little difference in style) nowadays they use some kind of digital animation, which gives it a rather homogenized look that lacks the quirkiness of the early years. But in the first series the animation was very rough around the edges (which give it more dodgy feel that meant some parents didn't want their kids watching it), and sometimes they made hilarious mistakes, there's one scene where Homer is lying in bed with Marge and they get the perspective wrong, although Homer is closer to the camera, they make his head three times the size of Marge's. And if you've ever seen the original shorts from The Tracy Ullman, the drawings are laughably bad. The truth is Matt Groening is not a great artist and at first he probably had to do most of the drawings himself. -- Last edit: 2006-08-12 01:49:11 |
