It is not a DeSoto Suburban but a 1950 DeSoto DeLuxe 8 passenger sedan taxicab ( S-14).The Suburban was available in the Custom series only and may be recognised by its factory installed roof luggage rack. Suburbans had costly natural woodgrain interior paneling finishing and were too expensive ( $ 3.199 ) to be operated by cab fleets.In 1950 only 623 Suburbans were produced.Their customers were mainly civilians , airport limousine firms and hotels. |
