Any idea when the racatngle headlamps were introduced? Maybe the fact that the very early (pre-serial?) 1968 Czechoslovak Avias, still assembled for a while mostly from the French parts had round headlamps, soon replaced by the rectangle (in the same year) says something... -- Last edit: 2010-01-27 20:32:44 |

Well, I'm not sure and have no clues on that, but I think squared headlamps appeared around 1970, but is it 1969 or 1971? ...that's why I leave blank the date field -- Last edit: 2010-01-27 20:43:54 |

This new front was intorduced in 1966/67, but with round lamps. Indeed, like it was mentioned it got the rectangle ones in 1968. You say 1970 and it fits perfectly to this what French Wikipedia says (or rather what I understood from the Google translation ). This "Saviem" lettering had to appear for the first time in ca 1968. It replaced on the grill the "Super names" (at least in case of the SG's). Then around 1970/late 1969 the Renault logo has been moved to the grille (previously it was above it).And now the important question - maybe the ones made before the 1968 should be listed as "Renault"? It is actually what they say in Wiki I think. Also the old brochures use the Renault make (Renault-Saviem). http://laurent.bunnik.perso.sfr.fr/renuti01.htm The Wiki text to check: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Super_Galion_SG4 -- Last edit: 2013-02-07 22:22:29 |
