I'm not sure on this, but I believe that this is actually the third generation as the second generation, despite looking basically the same as the first, shared almost no parts (either way, it's a '96 or a '97, no bar in the grille). |

It's a 3rd Generation (1996-1999). Definitly a '96/'97 because of the Ford logo above the grille opening and lack of bar in the opening like Hecubus said. |
