Well, to me it is not based on GAZ 69 and has only its front. The roof above the windshild looks very "Czech" - Skoda style(?). Animatronixx, how do you like it? ![]() -- Last edit: 2010-01-19 19:19:15 |

But look on the beam front axle with differential...this wasn´t in any CS car...if there was 4x4 cars, only with front swinging axles (Skoda, Tatra...), and in CS ARO is more probable than GAZ... |

Still the car seems to be too low for the ARO/GAZ. The front wings are "deeper": /vehicle_16972-ARO-M-461-1963.html |

Yes, it seems to be too low, but I think it´s due to this custom made body on ARO/GAZ chassis...tail lamps are from 1954 Škoda 440 Spartak and also the bumpers look too luxurious for ARO/GAZ |

Bumper looks Pobiedish (GAZ M20). |

Nice find, wickey. sergej - The fact that the differential is on the left excludes ARO. Only GAZ has the differential on the left, ARO has it on the right, under the driver's seat, and ARO has a different type of front axle. Oh... This is rather interesting than beautiful, isn't it? I'm not sure if I will like it some day... Anyway, I agree with Weasel1984: The windshield frame reminds of Skoda 1200/ 1201. It's just a guess if I write: Coachbuilder could have been Carrosserie Sodomka. |

So, I asked a friend of mine, who works often for The military technical museum Lešany (http://www.vhu.cz/en/stranka/vojenske-technicke-muzeum/). I was very surprised, because this car is in their museum depository. It´s in very bad condition and waits for renovation. It´s based on GAZ 69 and only one piece was made on special order in some CS body factory (probably Karosa in Vysoké Mýto, former Sodomka) in late 50s/early 60s as a funeral coach for mountain regions of CS. I hope I will have more detailed informations soon and a picture of the car as it looks today. |
