random Scania question: Does Scania still make complete trucks in Argentina? On http://www.scania.com/scania-group/scania-around-the-world/AR/ they list the Tucuman factory as currently making only gearboxes and rear axles. Are trucks imported from Brasil now? -- Last edit: 2010-09-01 07:50:58 |

Since 2003, Scania trucks and buses are imported from Brazil, unfortunately. The truck you see in the picture is built in Tucumán. In 2005, at Scania Argentina, was thought to assemble some trucks, but in Buenos Aires, but in small series. It is said that the plant in Tucumán, deals with drive shafts, transmission parts, engine parts, gearboxes and other parts, and that since it opened in early 1976, was his main activity, as the truck and buses was secondary. You can see the following link, which is in Spanish (can you serve and you're learning Spanish) http://www.autohistoria.com.ar/Historias/Scania.htm At some point if demand grew more than we can provide the Brazilian plant, one might think that return on the trucks. -- Last edit: 2010-09-01 08:10:55 |
