Okay, benchmark time. It seems the Polo's steering wheel changed quite often in its 8-year run. Very early ones, 1982-84 still have the wheel with Wolfsburg crest left over from the late Polo I: Link to "static.av.by" https://ranwhenparkeddotnet.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/1983-volkswagen-polo-mk2-11.jpg The nameless base trim carried the old wheel all the way into 1987: https://auto.ria.com/auto_volkswagen_polo_21226368.html (WVWZZZ80ZHW032739) ...and even to the end: https://auto.ria.com/auto_volkswagen_polo_20584045.html The GL used a slightly different steering wheel, previewing the soon-to-be-released Golf II: Link to "www.automobile-lopp.de" From 1984 this was applied to all trims, with a Volkswagen logo: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/quUAAOSwA3dYU6tA/s-l1600.jpg (January 1984 brochure) Link to "cdn1.riastatic.com" In 1986, the Steilheck received the wheel with the more familiar VW logo in the lower right: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/FzcAAOSwgHxcpfl8/s-l1600.jpg Link to "cdn4.riastatic.com" The base Schrägheck got the three-spoke of the Steilheck for 1988: https://www.autouncle.de/de/d/34807341-gebraucht-vw-polo-fancy https://auto.ria.com/auto_volkswagen_polo_26884882.html ...while the CL used the familiar two-spoke: http://www.rossvw.com/vw/88polocoupe.htm For 1988 (August 1987) the trim lines were reduced to base, Fox, CL and GT. 1989 remained mostly unchanged. For 1990, the last year for the prefacelift, the Polo received an optional sunroof and assembly began in dying East Germany in May 1990. -- Last edit: 2021-01-29 18:09:40 |
