Chevrolet/GMC Suburban |

Indeed, a Chevrolet Suburban or its rebadged GMC twin, which also used the same model name. From 1992-1999 model years, though this one is likely newer than 1992. Appears to be a 2500 (¾ ton) with some cosmetic modifications. |

Yep. Default goes to Chevrolet as they outsold the GMC version. I indeed believe this is newer than 1992 by the tint but that could have easily been replaced after 20 years. [GMT410]. |

Why don't we list them as /vehicles_make-GM_model-Suburban.html as default brand name, dhill_cb7? -- Last edit: 2019-05-21 18:25:43 |

I actually didn't know that page existed until this morning so I was always under the impression we picked whichever outsold the other. I didn't know we used 'GM' if we didn't know which one to pick from. I am just throwing this out there but we wouldn't say 'Tri-Star' or 'Diamond Star Motors' Neon. We always defaulted to Dodge as they sold more even if we could not tell it was a Plymouth or Chrysler outside the US. Same thing here with the Voyager/Caravan. We pick Dodge (IIRC) by default. Maybe I am wrong here but I believe antp said in the past whatever one sold more that is where it is defaulted. I thought 'GM' was there just until someone came along to see if it was able to properly ID'd or they didn't know to put by default in the extra information. Then any vehicle we have on here would need there own 'Default' brand made up instead of picking the most commonly sold one? I do not mind going through all the (By defaults) and moving them to GM but then we would have to remove all the chassis codes because GMT410 is Chevy and GMT425 is GMC. Just seems like a lot of work instead of just writing (By Default) in extra information. |

Let's see what other has to say about this, dhill_cb7 |

We started to use "GM" before we decided to add "(by default)" for identifications with multiple possibilities. That "GM Suburban" solution is not applicable to all makes/models, and indeed we lose additional details, so it may be better from now on to rather pick a model and append "(by default)" to it. |

Would this also apply to the vans and C/K pickups @antp? |
