Could be a Ford Thames van or a Fordson Van, early 1950s.

I'd suggest a pre-WW2 British Ford V8 station wagon, possibly a woody.

I was thinking more along the station wagon lines. I don't know of any post war production vans with sides that would burn out like that. What makes this more distinctive are the steel front doors, which weren't common on woodies. I found this site www.oldwoodies.com/gallery-shootingbrakes5.htm which might give some clues to someone who can spot details better than I can. The closest I can see on that site is the Austin A40, but this car looks bigger. It could be a Ford V8, but its not a Pilot (that has a rounded radiator grille and rear doors) and from what little I've been able to find, the pre-war Ford V8 tended to be a bit more stylised at the front end and some actually looked more modern than the Pilot that followed them! Still, I'm not a prewar car expert and could be talking rubbish.
