This is listed as an LTD but theres no LTD emblem on the drivers side of the center grille and no vinyl roof. If you look at the pictures provided by francisharley you can see F.O.R.D. across the hood and there apears to be no chrome strips on the door posts. Also with the base model hubcaps I'm 90% sure its a custom 500.

This scene was the reenactment of the attempted murder of Frank Serpico who was shot in the face by drug dealer; Edgar "Mambo" Echevarria during an arrest at 778 Driggs Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on the 3rd February 1971.

According to a later investigation into the shooting, Serpico (who at the time was assigned to the NYPD Brooklyn North Branch) along with officers; Gary Roteman, Arthur Cesare and Paul Halley received a tip-off about a drug deal that was about to place and rushed off to the location of the drug deal.

Upon arrival, Roteman and Cesare stood outside while Halley stood in front of the apartment building and Serpico entered the building via the building's fire escape and through the fire escape door, Serpico then went downstairs and saw two suspects leaving an apartment on the 3rd Floor of the building.

Serpico then followed the two suspects outside where they were arrested by Cesare, Halley and Roteman, with the two suspects secured, Serpico, Roteman and Cesare then returned to the apartment on a ruse of doing a drug buy.

As Serpico could speak Spanish, Serpico went to the apartment and got the door open wide enough for Serpico to wedge in, as Serpico was calling for assistance, Echevarria then produced a .22 LR pistol and shot Serpico in the face below the eye, the bullet then hit the auditory nerve, before breaking up in fragments and lodging into his brain and ending up in the upper jaw.

Despite being wounded, Serpico then return fire, wounding Echevarria before falling to the floor, despite the severity of Serpico's injuries, Cesare, Roteman and Halley refused to make a "10-13" call to dispatch (NYPD code for "Officer Need Assistance") instead, a elderly man living in the apartment next to Echevarria called emergency services and waited with Serpico until a police unit arrived and took Serpico to the Greenpoint Hospital.

Echevarria survived his wounds and was convicted of Serpico's attempted murder on the 31st May 1972 and was sentenced to 15 years to life imprisonment, in 1975, Echevarria then appealed his sentence and claimed that Serpico was shot by the officers who were there with Serpico.

In reality, the shooting occurred at 10pm.
