K-Series, upper end Sierra possibly, but not a Sierra Classic, note it does not have quad headlights or chrome trim around the windshield, looks to me like someone dressed up a lower model with bumper guards and chrome mirrors, comments? |

1985-1987 GMC K-25 Sierra Wideside (4-wheel-drive ¾ ton grade) These trucks were not cheaply assembled; chrome plastic was almost unheard of at this point (at least for these trucks, I cannot speak for other GM products) aside from scarce miscellaneous parts. The mirrors were not chrome but expensive stainless steel, trim was real aluminium (including the massive tail gate appliqué on top end models) along with chromed steel bumpers, no cheap chromed plastic or chromed aluminium was used. High build quality, materials, and overall craftsmanship was unusually good (not you’re average American automotive product at the time ... ) GM had a good thing going, but unfortunately decided cheap hard plastic was the way to go for the successor of these trucks, which debuted for the 1988 model year. GM’s pickups still have not fully recovered from this fatal error. The mirrors are factory fitted, as is the OE chromed steel front bumper. I suspect it’s a high optioned base Sierra, but not optioned enough to be a Sierra Grande. Certainly not a High Sierra or Sierra Classic. |
