1955 Chevrolet 4400+, B-Series, medium and heavy chassis's had a different grill configuration other than the egg crate type you referred to that was on the light duty chassis's

You're right for both: the fender emblem is a '57 one, and the hood emblem is a 1956-57 one.
And this bus looks really short to be a 6700 (194" wheelbase) model. Couldn't it be a 4500 (154" wheelbase) one?
