I think it looks more like a GMC Steel-Tilt cab. -- Last edit: 2009-08-20 22:31:47 (G-MANN) |

This vehicle I had been looking for pics of for a LONG time. IMCDB did a great job of getting them on here, but I do beleive that this vhicle was first made for a TV series in 1989, called "True Blue". This was an ESU truck with armor plates that rose up around the widnows, in a realistic way and not in a bat armor way, as well as having some other features to help the police. I have never seen it in anyother media using the devices that were seen in the TV series. List of Items I can recall: Crane/Winch Armor plates Top of vehicle lifted an armor box that allowed for a protect firing post Small field computer station inside was a very awesome, realistic type vehicle, i you look at all the pictures on this sight for this vehicle, the NYPD Blue episode shows the roof and you can see the box and crane/winch as well, I have yet to see any screen shots from the show True Blue on here, therefore I have not seen the shots with the armor in use. Note, episodes and the opening credits to "True Blue" can be seen on Google video and YouTube...check it out please. |

This vehicle is a 1964 GMC Fire/Rescue rig originally purchased by the Union City NJ FD. Obtained from a fire equipment supplier by NBC the 'True Blue' production co transformed it to the tune of $75,000 to its unique look for the TV series. Can bee seen elsewhere on this site in 'Ransome' and appeared in 'the Seige' and 'Daylight' (don't blink) in 1998. |

The info 'Ford C-900' seems to have been copied from page to page but none seems to contain any proof... An article about the transformation from the Union City NY Fire/Rescue to the True Blue PD vehicle was printed in the Sept/Oct 1989 issue of Fire Apparatus Journal. If you are looking for episodes of True Blue - see this link. Other episodes are on the right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsZHFgj2_VM Apologize for the language voice over. There used to be some on Google video but they have been removed. -- Last edit: 2013-02-22 18:36:06 |

The original and complete mfg ID should be a 1964 GMC/H&H. The nameplate on the chrome diamond plate behind the rear wheel is 'Saulsbury' who did the conversion in 1989. Additionally this vehicle appeared in 'Blue Bloods, episode 1.05 in the background (scene w/woman with remote control in car). The front diamond plate and turret has been removed and now painted all white. -- Last edit: 2013-03-05 04:43:41 |
