How can you tell seeing only the front of the car?

The 300 SEL had not the 4 separated head-lights, but had the same monobloc headlights than the 250,280 series

I'm afraid I would have to disaggree here: the twin 'american' style headlamps have ALWAYS been an optional extra on both W110 (Fintail/Heckflosse) and the W108/109's and ofcourse the coupe's convertibles (W111/112). So you cannot conclude that if the car has twin headlamp pods, it's a 300SEL, let alone a 6.3 !!!!

Because this is the only picture it;s difficult to tell: it looks as if the bottom bumper has a rubber strip, which would mean this is an early 280SE.... If there is no rubber strip on the bumper, it would be either a 220SE or a 250SE. Wether it is a long version, or wether it's a 6.3, cannot be deducted from this picture.
