I believe the full designation of this truck is CNT900. The truck line I was parts manager for had a few of them as short wheelbase tandem axle OTR tractors. They had 8V-71 Detroit engines and 13 speed Roadranger transmissions. We had a couple with 6-71 Detroits we used locally and and a few single axle CNT800 Dodge tractors with 413 Dodge engines for local delivery. They were well built and tough trucks and would hang in there with any Mack or International truck in the fleet. I remember this movie very well. Kirk Douglas played a cowboy who was born 100 years too late and was making a run from the law on his beautiful horse Whiskey. In the final scenes Whiskey was bringing Kirk down a hill beside the highway in the rain. She slipped and ended up out in the road where the CNT900 with a load of toilets and driven by Carol O'Connar could not avoid hitting them. Kirk was lying there in shock and Whiskey was in agony and he jerked when he heard the police mans shot that ended Whiskey's suffering. It ended leaving the audience knowing that Kirk died soon afterward, joining his beloved Whiskey, and avoiding prosecution. 900 logo visible in chicomarx's 4th thumb indeed. With a tandem rear axle, so a CT-900 (if gasoline powered) or a NCT-900/CNT-900 (if with a Diesel engine, NCT-Series being early -1960-68?- models). Dual headlights indicate a 1960-68 model... which sounds logical in a 1962 movie .gif ":)") → CT-900. |
