One of these Dnjepr things?

Yes... they were sold as Cossack Dneiper in the UK.

Ural M-67 (1973-)
The fender of the unusual form, and the rib around a tank are unique to Ural.
This Ural is earlier model. It dosen't have head light upper cover and sidecar has older type grab bar.

later model (with head light upper cover)

One note. Ural is not a manufacturer,it's bike's name. Plus Ural truck is absolutely different thing, nothing relations between this two...
Year ago,my friend was hit by "Ural" bike, but my first thought was, that he smashed by truck...

There are few bikes listed as Ural here on the site. Even if it is not related to the trucks make, couldn't it be a make?

No. Just because maker is IMZ - Ирбитский Мотоциклетный Завод (Irbit Motorcycle Plant).
As for Dnepr bikes - they made by KMZ - Киевский Мотоциклетный Завод.

Made by IMZ, but does it mean that it was sold and registered as an "IMZ"?

to Jplemoine: I don't speak France,sorry.

to antp: easiest way - check out VIN tag.But there is no such thing as "Ural"-make,face it. They just don't thought about make/model scheme. For example: VAZ-make, 2101-model, and Zhiguli is NAME. That was their way to name vehicles. At least in my sight.

jplemoine was saying that in France they were sold as make "Ural". Like the VAZ which were sold as Lada make.

I would say that it's export name, still not make.

antp BE

2006-05-27 23:35

"make" does not mean maker, it is the "commercial make". Like Renault Espace which was made built by Matra, and few others examples like that...

At least differentiate it from trucks.

We have the same problem for Triumph, but as both names are the same...
It is like when two different models of a make have same name: they are listed together.
